Day 5

Michael Ross:

I can't believe that the week is finally over! I enjoyed it so much, from the amazing views to the scenic hikes it was all too much. One of the most enjoyable aspects of the whole trip was meeting and
befriending new and wonderful people. The four mile hike around String Lake was the most beneficial thing to the group. We got not only to have a nice challenging hike, but also learned a lot about
the sculpting of the valley by the glaciers and the geologic timeline. I also learned quite a bit from Mr. Coffin about the identification of rocks (even though we were only able to identify quartzite on Thursday's hike) and their background history and how that pertains to the identification. All in all, I am coming back next year!

Abby Stevens:

Ahhh. Teton Science School. It's funny, the Tetons. It seems as though every time you come back, they get better and better. And this week was absolutely no exception. Group 1 was in high morale as we started our week off with a brutal 12 mile, seemingly vertical hike. We were tired, sweaty, and completely elated. Although there was an aura of grouchy the next morning, after being sore, tired, and totally getting stood up by our pseudo yoga instructor (we love you, Sita!), we did enough research to pull together an interpretive dance in place of a presentation. We had an amazing time, this group. Not only were we all pretty good friends to begin with, but the hiking really pulled us together. I have never been with a more motivated group of people than this week. Every day, we would push to the absolute limit. We would all rather have seen a glacier than sit around during free time. We all wanted to get higher and higher, further and further, but were all equally happy to get where we did. I think I can speak for the lot of us in saying that we surpassed our personal expectations this week. Not only did hike harder than most of us had ever before, we did so willingly and happily. We waited for one another, didn't compete, helped one another out, and had a fairly thorough conversation with pretty much everybody in the group. We all grew quite a bit and are very, very happy with how the week turned out. Next time we go, we are FOR SURE making it to the Teton Glacier. I'd miss breakfast the next day, if that's what it took. No doubt about it!
