Lab Book Info

All sciences require a lab book.  The following document outlines the requirements.  LINK

Specific science book requirements are at the bottom of this page.

Science and Engineering Lab Books:

Both science and engineering students need a lab book for each class; a student may not use the same lab book for both classes.  There are several similarities and differences between how each lab book will be used and graded.  This worksheet is designed to summarize similarities and differences.

Similarities:

  • Both classes need a standard composition book, with a taped binding and a string center.  The book must be filled with graph paper (not standard lined).
  • Both classes will only accept capital letter, print writing in their lab book.  This is the standard for science, engineering, and the military because it is easy to read by all.
  • Students must have their name, period, the class name and teacher name on the outside of their lab book in permanent black marker.
  • Writing in the lab book may only be done in blue or black, ball-point pen.
  • If a mistake is made in a lab book, white-out is not to be used.  Mistakes are to have a single line written over, a date, and the initials of the individual.
  • Books will be numbered only in the upper-outside right-page corner with the first two pages being reserved for table of contents.

Differences:

  • Science lab books will begin a new lab on a new page.  Engineering note books will have an entry for everyday.

If you have any questions about lab or note books, feel free to ask Mr. Baker or Dr. Kawamura.
